Instructor training

Instructor training at Drivers Scotland offers tuition for the DSA parts 1, 2 and 3.

Drivers Scotland is owned and managed by a Grade 6 driving instructor.
For any driving instructor  to pass the DSA Part 3 test, maintain, or achieve a higher standard anywhere, training is a must.

There are qualities a driving instructor will need to possess in order to be recognised as a good driving instructor, these are:

  • have good communication skills and business sense.
  • have patience, understanding and a professional approach.
  • have enthusiasm, good manners and the ability to get on with people.
  • maintain a high interest in road safety and demonstrate a high standard of driving and instructional ability.
  • and above all, be one who can influence, educate and motivate clients for “Safe Driving for Life“.

Requirements

You’ll be allowed onto the DSA register if you:

  • Hold a full UK, European Union or European Economic Area unrestricted car driving licence.
  • Have held the car driving licence for at least four out of the past six years before you join the register when you qualify.
  • Have not been disqualified from driving at any time in the four years before you join the register.
  • Are a ‘fit and proper’ person to have your name entered on the register, taking into account any motoring convictions and any other criminal record.

You have to take and pass three tests to become an ADI. They are:

  • A theory test (part one)
  • A driving ability assessment (part two)
  • A test of instructional ability (part three)

You have to pass both parts two and three within two years of passing part one.
This process may take several months.

Testimonials

“Stuart created a good learning environment in the car making it easy to ask questions, and through encouragement, create an enjoyable learning experience. His knowledge was excellent and his approach to teaching was thorough, ensuring I understood what was being taught. I would recommend Stuart for part 3 and check test training”.
K.

“I went to Stuart for my part 3 training and it was fantastic. He made the lessons fun and enjoyable but full of information which I was able to take away with me and practice. He passed on so much of his knowledge that it made it easy to understand. Learning the part 3 can be a very daunting experience but with Stuarts structured training plan he makes it a lot easier. I highly recommend him to anyone considering this career path”.
